Your first land bike ride is in the area around
Tilajari and Arenal Volcano. It takes you through easy rolling
countryside and down dirt roads through cane and dairy farms
Your next day of land biking takes you from the base
of Arenal Volcano, 1625 feet above sea level, back down to Tilajari.
Although you will need to climb (or ride in the van) up a few steep
hills, this ride is characterized by its exhilarating downhills. There
will surely be several stops to take in the views of Lake Arenal; if you
are lucky enough to catch Arenal Volcano out of the clouds, the views
are spectacular on this stretch. After biking 33.5 miles you can stop at
a hot springs for a soak.
In the Tortuguero National Park alternate between
hydro-bikes, kayaks, and canoes to visit the most magical places in this
flooded forest: places where motorboats cannot go and where
wildlife is most abundant
Raft down the Pacuare River through the most beautiful river
canyon in the tropics, over 20 Class III and IV rapids, primary rain
forest clinging to 100-foot high vertical canyon walls, and waterfalls
plunging from the canyon rim into the river¹.
