The Best of Costa Rica

Forward Link

9 days/8 nights

One of our most popular itineraries, The Best of Costa Rica, allows travelers to experience several different types of tropical forests.

At Tiskita Jungle Lodge, enjoy the lowland rainforest and secluded beaches in this 400-acre private rain forest reserve in the remote region of Golfito on the southern Pacific coast. The bird watching is fabulous with over 285 species identified in the area to date. Tiskita is also an experimental exotic tropical fruit farm.

The Arenal Volcano National Park encompasses thousands of acres of pristine rainforest and teems with tropical birds and wildlife. The Observatory is the only lodge situated within the park. Arenal volcano, active since 1968, rumbles and erupts with spectacular displays of vapor and lava. A hike in the park through pre-montane forest can take you to a close-up exploration of a lava flow. While in the area enjoy a dip in the thermal pools at the Tabacón Hot Springs.

Feel the cool mists on your face as you explore the Monteverde Cloud Forest one of the richest and most diverse tropical cloud forests in the New World. The reserve is best known as home to the Resplendent Quetzal but also protects hundreds of other birds, mammals, and plant species. Enjoy a visit to the Butterfly Garden and Ecological Farm.

The optional trip to Corcovado National Park from Tiskita is highly recommended.
