Respected jungle guide Hernán Arauz is one of the pioneers of birding and natural history tours in Panama. He comes from a family of explorers and field scientists. Hernán, who attended school in the United States and Panama, is a veteran of seven Trans Darién jungle expeditions. He organized and guided the Trans-Darién Jungle Trek following Balboa's route from the Caribbean to the Pacific, the first one ever with ecotourists and the first one transmitted over the internet. Hernán has led more than 350 tours to Barro Colorado Nature Monument and has extensive experience in all of Panama's life zones. He is an avid birder and naturalist with a Panama birdlist closing on 750 species. He has designed and led specialized natural history and birding tours for the largest and most respected tour operators in the United States.
